Creative Rathangan Meitheal Programme of Work 2021
Seminars
Spies, Rebels and Informers 1, 2 and 3. Three short seminars exploring the 'intelligence war' with a particular focus on the role of Rathangan's Ned Broy. This seminar will address four key questions - (1) Why did earlier rebellions fail - was it simply a matter of intelligence? (2) How did Collins build an effective counter intelligence response? (3) Who was gathering the intelligence? (4) Why was the battle for Public Opinion so important?
The Other Revolution - marking the establishment of Northern Ireland in 1921, and tracing its origins from resistance to Home Rule to the opening of a separate Parliament in Belfast
After Tracks - a seminar marking European Year of Rail Heritage focusing on BNM's narrow gauge railway system and possible future uses.
From Ballynowlart to New York-the Bracknagh Turf Co-Operative Revisited a new cut of a largely forgotten film from 1921 complete with storyboards and music plus an accompanying lecture.
The Science Politics and Economics of Climate Change - organised with the Geography Department Maynooth University
