Creativity and Expression through Digital Technology

National Learning Network in Carrick on Shannon have teamed up with Fab lab Manorhamilton to create a bespoke creative experience for some of their students.

The group will embark on a journey together to create something from an abstract thought into a solid, tactile form. The concept appealed to the students during a group discussion about the possibility of completing a project with Fab Lab. This is a new opportunity and experience for the group,  working with new technologies and touching on new ways of learning through a creative process.

The Pathway programme is a HSE funded program and is designed to promote self-esteem and self-worth for individuals with a range of disabilities. It has 3 core values, Person Centred Planning, Community Inclusion and Active Citizenship. The aim of the programme is to allow students to make positive changes in their lives so as to experience greater community inclusion through the discovery of socially valued roles.

Getting involved with a community project like this, supports these core values and supports students to develop greater levels of independence and enhances social skills which empowers students to make positive changes in their lives.
