Cu Roi Mac Daire at Caherconree

Cú Roí Mac Dáire: Summer Solstice Storytelling at Caherconree is a special outdoor mythological performance taking place on Sunday 21 June at the ancient stone fortress on Caherconree where the Cú Roí Mac Dáire the druid king of west Kerry had his mythic stronghold which he could spin in the fog of night

Join Foinse for a unique midsummer gathering in the landscape of Kerry myth, where story, music, acting and song meet on the mountain of Cú Roí.

Attendees must book tickets in advance on Eventbrite, the event is free apart from 5 euro to cover shuttle bus. The shuttle bus will leave O Dwyer’s Petrol station Upper Camp Village at 12 noon on Sunday 21 June and bring audiences to the base of the mountain, where participants will be guided on foot to the fortress. The hike to the site will take approx 1.5 hours.

The show at the fortress will last approximately 45 minutes. There are no toilet facilities on the mountain. This is an immersive outdoor event in a spectacular upland setting, so suitable footwear, warm layers, some food, water & a mat to sit on are strongly recommended.

The event will conclude with offering space for reflection, and communal acknowledgement of this ancient heritage site, before participants descend the mountain together.

Come celebrate the summer solstice with Foinse in one of Kerry’s most powerful mythological sites for the summer solstice.
