Déan É Spraoi, introduces the concept of STEAM for pre-schooler’s …with a range of workshops and programmes for young children. Programmes to include: Build me Emotions and Lego Storytelling workshops to promote health, wellbeing and creative imaginative play using Lego.
Sensory Storytimes: Children with special needs can be excluded from many activities. Sensory storytimes allow children to experience touch, taste and sound in a fun environment where families can relax. Sensory Toys/ Fidget Toys have been provided through the library service to young children to support their need for movement and touch. This enhances their ability to remain calm, focused, and attentive and provide a place for kids to direct their energy in a less distracting and more socially appropriate way while they focus on the task at hand (e.g. listening to in a playgroup, paying attention to a book during circle time).
Included in this early years programme is an introduction to coding, science and STEAM workshops across a wide range of branch libraries in collaboration with Galway Science and Technology Festival during the month of November.
