Deoch Dance

Deoch Dance will be a short film shot over three days in Mayo in August. As part of her Masters in Creative Practices in the Centre for Creative Arts and Media in Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, filmmaker Orlagh Heverin will make a short film which will be shown in the college's group exhibition in September.

Deoch Dance will be set in rural Ireland in the early 80’s. It is a dance film and will star local dancer Catherine Donnelly. The camera operator will be Mayo Fintan Geraghty. Local Musician John Hoban will be providing music. A local poet will also be engaged for the film. The entire film will be shot on location in Mayo. The film centers round the effect of alcoholism on a woman who is living with an active drinker. Areas such as binge eating, self-harm and suicidal tendencies will be explored in the script.
