Developing Resilience through Art

Dates
1st Oct 2020
to 30th Oct 2020

Age Range
13 - 17

Cork as a city is working towards becoming a Trauma Sensitive City. This project will give young people in secondary schools and youth organisations an opportunity to explore the concepts of trauma, adversity and resilience in their lives and their communities. It will explore the impacts experiencing and living with trauma has had on them individually and their communities though music and visual art.

We will lay the foundation by working with a psychologist who specializes in trauma and adversity to allow the participants to gain an understanding about trauma on an individual and collective level, to explore resilience and draw on how they have developed resilience to deal with stresses through life and within their community.

We will work through music and rap with Garry McCarthy and a visual artist to allow the young people to explore the concepts and develop a musical and visual piece of art.
