Diary of a Déise Scribbler
The book, Diary of a Déise Scribbler is a collection of articles, poems, and recitations (in both Irish and English), which Waterford author Declan Terry (Deuglán Turraoin) has written over the past 40 years.
Declan describes the book as “there is a mix of fun, humour, sentimentality, and sadness included and they cover subjects like sporting events (both local and further afield), tributes and eulogies, which I have had the privilege of delivering over the years and some short stories. It could be described as a celebration of a community and a documentation of some of the people and events that have coloured my life. Whilst it is not on a par with the previously published 'Fir Mhóra an tSean Phobail', it could be described as a social history of its time.”
The book is very much a social record of the people and events of An Sean-Phobal in Gaeltacht na nDéise primarily, as well as recording the trials and tribulations of the Waterford Hurling Team down through the years. It is very much a publication of local interest, with the vast majority of the content being Declan’s own composition.
Diary of a Déise Scribbler will be launched in May 2023, venue and date to be confirmed and will be announced on the Creative Ireland Waterford Facebook Page.
