Digital Participation Pilot Project
While the use of online platforms for all of the cultural participation activity led by Dublin City Council Culture Company has been a successful one, broadening cultural participation to many who may not have previously taken part, we also recognise that virtual settings can narrow participation for others, creating barriers for those who for a variety of reasons, may not have access to the technology and/or digital know-how.
With the development of this new pilot initiative with the support of the Dublin City Council Creative Ireland Team funding 2020, we hope to find ways to facilitate participation in our online cultural programmes, for those who are interested but for whom access to a device, and/or wifi connectivity, and/or confidence in navigating virtual platforms currently prevents them from doing so.
We are exploring the potential for developing new ‘covid secure’ ways to support the digital cultural participation of communities and individuals across our creative engagement and other programmes, which are aligned to our company strategy and underpinned by our values. Through this pilot project we are researching with a group / community to identify and assess feasibility and scope to facilitate digital access to cultural engagement within an environment of engagement, support and capacity building.
