Drumlin Stories – Connecting & Collecting Stories of Co. Monaghan

Storytelling has been an integral part of human life since the dawn of time.

History shows that when our ancestors started using language, they most likely began recounting to stories: terrific stories of extraordinary hunts, wild adventures and natural disasters. Stories moved with people and have been transported around the world.

They were told and retold, changing and evolving into folklore.

However, some of our stories are being lost as opportunities to share them are diminishing. A generation of people will pass without their stories being passed down.

Monaghan County Libraries ‘Storyteller In residence’ will work with groups throughout County Monaghan to gather people together, to tell stories, to encourage stories, to listen to stories and to record stories.

The Storyteller will co-ordinate weekly ‘Yarn-Spinners’ clubs – social events throughout Co. Monaghan where people can meet again to remember stories they once heard as well as be enthralled by new ones.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
