Drumming in the Cashel
We plan to hold 3 (1 ½ hours each) drumming workshops in Kilcashel, an Iron Age stone fort located in Kilmovee , which is a National Monument and the jewel in the crown of the unique assemblage of ancient archaeological sites and monuments in the Kilmovee area. The workshops will be offered to all of the students in each of the 3 local national schools, Kilmovee NS, Tavraun NS and Brusna NS. The workshops will be led by Barra O Flanniagh, a local Sligo-based musician and teacher with 20 years of experience in delivering workshops in his craft.
All instruments will be provided and the workshops will be completely hands-on. We will hold a separate workshop for each school. The workshops will be held on Saturday 19th June @11am-12.30pm, 1pm-2.30pm and 3pm-4.30pm. In the event of weather making it impossible to hold the workshops outside, we will move the event to our Thatch Cottage in Kilmovee Community Centre. The workshops will give children the opportunity to get musically creative using the ancient and innate language of rhythm. No previous experience or ability is necessary to take part.
