Artist Ellen Rose Wallace develop a video triptych installation on CRT TVs that shows the movement of a sourceless shadow over a boundless green agricultural field. The work will deal with rituals of prevention, superstition, our connection to the land and seasonal cycles, as well as fairies as psychological scapegoats in folklore. A figure in the work traces the lines of the shadow in a ritual inspired by the ‘rounds’ around a holy well, as though in an act of worship or to prevent something. The shadow and light in the installation will change in real time throughout the day, to mimic the sun of the summer solstice.

As a companion to this installation, Ellen will create an interactive element, involving screens such as iPads or phones for viewers to scroll through so that they can experience the looping, shadowy landscape for themselves. It will be available for public viewing later this year.
