This multidisciplinary creative project will engage young people, including members of new communities, in a series of weekend workshops. The young people will be facilitated to tell stories (legends and myths) from their own cultural backgrounds and to share and celebrate stories from Irish culture and the other nationalities represented in workshops. This project will involve young people currently residing in direct provision in County Monaghan and children from families who have refugee status. The project aims to be a cultural exchange between the Irish community and those from ethnic minority backgrounds. The project creates opportunities for increased citizen participation for young people who are asylum seekers and refugees to engage with children from the Irish community as they are often excluded.
