FabLabs: enabling creative potential Micro-Art Studios in inner-city libraries
Through a series of multi-medium workshops within the spaces, created specifically for this project, we will engage children from disadvantaged communities in the Arts, creating a variety of works, culminating in an exhibition from the youth artists of our communities. The principal project costs will be the re-modelling of library space, purchasing of a variety of tools and materials to provision the studios and in paying local artists to facilitate an introductory series of workshops in the basic usage of these artforms. In purchasing the tools, we will be enabling the children taking part to learn about these art forms directly. While workshops will develop the skills, it is important that every child who is interested is able to experience and explore their own artistic journey. This is why we want to create a space in which any child coming to the library with have the opportunity to experience it for themselves. The Micro-Art studios will be long-term, freely accessible space for hands-on creativity and learning in our communities.
