Farm Walks

FARM WALKS Farm Walks brings together a cross-border network of farmers with shared interests and values from different rural communities in Leitrim and Fermanagh. The purpose is to co-   BACK create a programme of activities in Leitrim and Fermanagh that can deepen that understanding by looking at common concerns using new and creative approaches. The project is supported by a partnership between Leitrim Sustainable Agriculture Group, Ulster Wildlife, Leitrim County Council’s Arts Office and Heritage Office and The Dock Arts Centre, with action research and evaluation experts TIALT.

Through the Creative Communities on a Shared Island initiative, the programme  will  support a cross-border network to meet and connect people-to-people and to deepen community ties and inclusive dialogue. This will be the first concrete activity of the network and it is designed to employ creativity as a means to explore possibilities of partnership in a way that is innovative, open and stimulating. The themes of the creative activities have been  generated by the farmers through a brainstorming session and include: arts and environmental activism; historical surveys and mythology; music and the landscape; wetlands and natural healing remedies.  Six co designed ‘Farm Walks’ book ended by community gatherings hosted by Ulster Wildlife in Enniskillen and the Dock Arts Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon to mark Samhain 2023 2024 respectively.
