Arts Festivals are such an important part of the arts infrastructure in Wicklow. We know that Covid-19 has created a set of circumstances and conditions which have been extremely challenging for festivals to work within. Despite the ongoing dynamic situation, we know too that there is an impelling desire to make work happen, to plan ahead for 2021.

Wicklow County Council Arts Office, funded through the Creative Ireland Programme, wishes to support arts festival organisers in the county to find a way to negotiate and manage change: to adapt their programme, as required, and to sustain their relationships with artists and audiences.

Janice McAdam will conduct workshops with two different groupings of arts festivals, artform focused festivals and more community based arts festivals. This work will deepen Wicklow County Council's understanding of the challenges arts festivals are facing, learning more about their ambitions for 2021 and their capacity to adapt in the context of ‘Living with Covid’.

The workshops will also capture their views on what needs to be in place to help festivals adapt and survive in the short and longer term. This information and insight will allow Wicklow County Council to plan and make provision for collective and/or individual supports as appropriate.
