Flier celebrating two important local suffragettes

This new flier commemorates 2 important suffragettes with connections to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown - Louie Bennett and Anna Haslam.

Louisa Bennett (known as Louie) (1870-1956) was a lifelong campaigner for equality, worker’s rights and peace and was born into a prosperous family in Dublin and grew up in Killiney. She is buried in Deansgrange Cemetery.

Anna Maria Haslam (née Fisher) (1829-1922) was born into a Quaker family in Youghal, County Cork.  She is buried in the Friends Cemetery, Temple Hill, Blackrock, County Dublin.

This flier ties in with the publication of Anna Haslam: pioneering suffragette by Carmel Uí Cheallaigh, as part of the commemorations of the centenary of her death.
