This project is a celebration of place - Frank’s place. For 20 years Frank Glynn was the only person in Milltown with a film camera. Throughout the 1960s and 70s he recorded the business, social and cultural life of an Irish Village. He filmed the knocking of the parish church, the building of the new one, the final running of the Miltown Races, the opening of the new shop, rare footage of Galway’s 1966 All-Ireland victory and much more. In 2020, Frank is digitizing this footage and plans to show this treasure trove of moving images as part of an exhibition and film in Autumn 2020.

A collaboration between Milltown Community Centre, Milltown Heritage, Athenry Film Club and Merchants Gate Films, the exhibition and film will instill a pride of place, community connections and encourage discussions and reflections on their place, identity, society and shared heritage through this valuable lens on Milltown's past.
