Futurepastpresent: a manual for re-building

Futurepastpresent aims to become a durational project in the manner of social art and public space practices. It has been inspired in particular, but not exclusively, by the work of acclaimed Dutch artist, Jeanne van Heeswijk.

Creative Ireland's Community Grant has funded an essential technical element. Conservation Architect, Paraic McKevitt, will survey properties in Ship Street. The report will investigate the architectural heritage as well as forming the basis for future restoration based on conservation practices.

This report will form the basis of a discussion and a phase of participatory/contributory process with communities that will result in the online publication. It is anticipated that the publication will be launched in August 2020 as part of Heritage Week events in Ship Street. This will be augmented by a visual/audio installation created with former residents of the street. As an online publication it will be added to each year to form a compendium of the project's progress.
