The Eilís Dillon Online Bookclub is part of ‘Galway's Great Read 2020’, a series of events presented by Galway Public Libraries celebrating the centenary year of one of the West of Ireland’s most versatile writers, Eilís Dillon.
Taking place over four Thursdays in October, the bookclub is facilitated by Emily Cullen, poet and former Director of Cúirt International Festival of Literature. Taking Dillon’s novel, The Bitter Glass (1958) as its main focus, the author's life and work and her wider influence on 20th Century Irish writing will also be discussed. It will feature special guests each week, including Dillon’s daughter, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, her son, Cormac Ó Cuilleanáin, Anne Marie Herron, Siobhán Morrissey and Maureen O'Connor.
