This Sensing in Summertime edition of Seed Scholars’ Gather & Grow videos will consist of 6 sets of videos. Each set will highlight a different one of our 5 core senses, with the 6th set highlighting an array of new senses scientists have more recently exposed. Each of the
6 sets of videos will be composed of 2-5 minute how-to and activity inspiration videos that amount to 30 minutes total. The short clips seek to engage families in different nature-based ways to elevate their sensory awareness whilst connecting with their local environment, each other, and the wider community. As a follow up to each set, Seed Scholars will send out a google form to participants that requests artifacts and insights acquired through participation in the sensory activities, thereby compiling a bank of Westmeath sensory memories.
General bank of possible Forest School activities to be included in the video clips (through the lens of the different senses): vocabulary, poems, stories and songs in English and Irish, flora and fauna identification, outdoor cooking, foraging, nature crafts with plant materials, games and mindfulness ideas
