Headford Bobbin Beats

Headford Lace Project is collaborating with Drumadore Drum School and Claran Theatre to experiment in imaginative ways to create a new composition entitled ' Headford Bobbin Beats'. Headford has a long history of the craft of bobbin lacemaking going back to the 1700s, which has recently been revived through the Headford Lace Project.

This exciting collaboration will provide opportunities for up to eighty young people between 5 and 15 years to explore and creatively respond to this aspect of their local heritage. They will explore the rhythmic process of bobbin lacemaking, observing the wooden bobbins carrying threads woven in a regular repetitive pattern and create a rhythmic and theatrical representation of the lacemaking process and heritage.

Inspired by both the history and craft, a new street arts performance/spectacle will be performed as part of an outdoor cultural event in the town, bringing the craft to life in a dramatic way to a new audience.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
