Hinterland Festival 2026
The 14th Hinterland Festival will take place the 25th to 28th June, offering the usual mix of great events!
Highlights include Oscar-winning producer David Puttnam (Chariots of Fire, The Mission), & much-loved actor Larry Lamb (Gavin and Stacey). Dermot Bannon; Michael Harding; Fred Cooke & Tom Dunne. Liz Nugent, Edel Coffey, former state pathologist Marie Cassidy, Patrick Freyne. RTE’s Miriam O’Callaghan, Irish Times columnist Frank McNally, PR guru Terry Prone, & psychologist Katriona O’Sullivan. Former BBC Newsnight presenter & novelist Kirsty Wark.
Hindsight@Hinterland, ‘America250’, will be looking back at the USA’s first quarter millennium, with talks on American sport, organised crime, the Vietnam war, MAGA, the sexual revolution of the 1960s, the ‘real’ Alexander Hamilton, the African American and Native American experiences, as well as the contrasting fortunes of Irish Americans.
World premiere of Where Angels Listen Short films, a very special collaborative tribute to the poet Francis Ledwidge, curated by Deirdre Kinahan with live performances & discussion on the evening from Steve Wickham (Waterboys), Dermot Bolger, Deirdre Kinahan, Gerardette Bailey & Perlee.
With music from one of Ireland’s most revered performers Mary Coghlan. As well as talks & workshops at the newly opened Kells Printing Works, our partnership with Lit Quake in San Francisco continues as we wrap up the festival with Lit Crawl a series of free events in various venues around Kells
