Westmeath Archaeological and Historical Society are organising a history conference on Westmeath and Ireland in 1919, Six speakers will address themes associated with the outbreak of the War of Independence.  It is an important event in the town as it keeps heritage history and culture to the fore and helps develop a sense of community in the town and area.
