How Do We Care

SoloSIRENs is a participatory festival bringing theatre artists and South County Dublin communities together to consider and explore the nature of care in our society. How do we care? Who does the caring? How are the carers supported? And how can we care better? The festival will give the members of the SoloSIRENs collective an opportunity to devise a new work on this theme.

Solosirens Collective is a core group of women living and working in South Dublin County. The collective was formed in 2019 and since then has expanded and evolved as they continue to explore the feminist aesthetic in community theatre practice. Crucial to a feminist aesthetic is a focus on care.

Workshops and research in communities, engaging with intercultural groups, healthcare providers and carers will begin in Autumn 2022, with full project development taking place in 2023 and performance of the new work in the SoloSirens festival.

SoloSirens is directed by Jennifer McDonald.
