Abbey Road Studios artists awarded funding from Creative Ireland and Westmeath County Council to Mimi Seery for her project In Praise of Shadows, a text based shadow installation located below the Athlone Town Library sundial exterior walls.

As part of the project, Seery will also be engaging with students from  Coláiste Chiaráin's asd unit, with classes on building their own sundials and a time-lapse video presentation of the installation at work.

The installation aims to use our most powerful and nurturing natural resource - the sun - to directly communicate the message of focusing on the present moment. Nature is literally speaking to us.

To watch the text appear and disappear according to the suns visibility in the sky reminds us of how fleeting, and how special each and every moment we have really is.
