For this event we are having a Pop up KCAT Open Studio in the new Learning Centre in the Butler Gallery, Evans Home. We are celebrating the unique ethos of access to arts and creativity that KCAT foster and nurture within a new audience in Kilkenny ‘s Butler Gallery. We want to expand our impact and promote KCAT to new audiences and welcoming new participants. The pop-up Studio will be facilitated by Rachel Burke every Thursday evening for 3 hours, running from start of November to February. Rachel has initiated this new collaboration between KCAT and Butler Gallery; both see it as a pilot art project and are committed to continuing collaborations pending future funding.
70% of the Inclusion-Open Studio workshops will be accessible to KCAT Open Studio artists (mixed abilities of special needs and mainstream adults). The rest of the spaces will be open to the public. Due to covid restrictions we have to limit the numbers to 10 per workshop; we will assign a number of weeks to each participants so everyone can avail of opportunity.
This event will have a positive impact on KCAT community and the public engagement in Kilkenny city. Based in a small-town Callan, KCAT would enormously benefit from the celebration and promotion of the amazing work that goes on in Centre. Our unique ethos focusing on inclusion and everyone’s need of access to arts and creativity. Sometimes this work can be overlooked because of our location out of city.
