Inscribed histories at the Rossmore Mausoleum Phase 2
In 2007, the Conservation Plan for Rossmore Mausoleum was produced. This plan was an instrumental document in securing the improved condition and future for the mausoleum which had been badly vandalised and neglected in the previous years.
The immediate aim is to secure the conservation of the main elements of Rossmore Mausoleum, which is a unique building of artistic, architectural, social, and historical interest. Located in a public park in Monaghan town, as an unoccupied structure, it has particular vulnerabilities that need to be addressed in a progressive manner, securing the building physically through conservation and repair but also by engagement with stakeholders.
In 2020, conservation plans commenced with support from Creative Ireland. This year in 2021, we will see the engagement of specialist conservation advisors/managers for the phase 2 of this conservation project.
