Building on 2023’s successful photographic exhibition funded by Creative Ireland and held on the grounds of Cluain Lir Nursing Centre by taking it further into the wider community.

Managed by Cluain Lir’s Resident Artist, Lucy Tormey, and assisted by Activity Co-ordinators Karina Browne and Ruth Donoghue, the residents and day service users of Cluain Lir Community Nursing Unit will embark on year two of their photographic exhibition with lens-based artist Emma O’Brien. 

Inside Out is a photographic exhibition featuring a collection of compelling and thought-provoking images captured by Emma O'Brien and the Residents and Service Users in Cluain Lir. The exhibition concerning people with dementia captures a sense of their world, their emotions, and their personal stories. 

The initial show was held in autumn 2023. This year, the team want to bring the work further into the community, by exhibiting in a shared space and inviting community members to join the residents for a creative session. 

The goal of this project is to raise awareness, educating the public about challenges faced by older people, to promote an inclusive compassionate society and to provide a platform for voices to be heard and stories told.
