Interactive Group Music Therapy Workshop

This engaging Interactive Group Music Therapy Workshop, delivered by Down Syndrome Ireland Mayo Branch, will provide children and young people aged 5-18 with the opportunity to explore creativity, connection, and self-expression through music. Facilitated by a qualified music therapist, the programme will be delivered in two six-week blocks, creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive space where participants can learn, grow, and have fun together.

Using rhythm, song, movement, and instrumental play, the workshops will support communication, confidence, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing. Activities such as interactive singing, percussion, movement to music, and collaborative musical games will encourage participation, creativity, and shared experiences among peers.

The programme offers an important opportunity for children with additional needs to access high-quality creative experiences within their local community. It will help foster confidence, strengthen connections between participants and families, and celebrate the joy of music in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The project will conclude with a special sharing session, giving participants the chance to showcase their achievements and celebrate the friendships, skills, and creative experiences developed throughout the programme.
