Intercultural Creativity

Lough Lannagh Village Volunteers is embracing creativity!

Founded in 2022, our group was created to support and assist the displaced residents of Lough Lannagh Village. What started as a simple WhatsApp group quickly evolved into a formal committee, supporting with essential services, such as transportation for medical and dental appointments and organising outings to local attractions.

Involving local artists, crafters, and creatives, it increased engagement with our cultural heritage but also provided opportunities for Ukrainian residents to share their rich culture with us.

During a recent visit to Turlough House Museum, our Ukrainian friends showed great interest in Ireland’s basket-weaving tradition.  We are thrilled that Tom Delaney, a seasoned expert, has offered to lead this project, sharing his extensive knowledge and skills.

Maire Keogh has created a unique method of teaching English through painting.  By engaging participants in art, she encourages conversation, greatly improving their spoken English.

And Maureen O’Neill from Greenway Lane Art Studio & Café offers an innovative program that combines art classes with English language learning for Ukrainian children, blending creative expression with educational development.

Join us in these enriching activities that bring our community together, celebrate our diverse cultures and create lasting connections.
