INTERMen is a creative legacy project that will see local playwright, CN Smith, facilitate a series of workshops with Mens Shed members in person, and with other men joining remotely via Sheds@Home. The sessions will revolve around the men chatting and telling stories about friendships, connection and relationships. The men will be joined with some young men from new local communities, to co-create the concept for a future performance piece to be devised by CN Smith.

This project will give voice to older men, to tell stories about friendships through a creative medium. The overall theme is: passing on knowledge about men’s friendships and relationships to a new intercultural generation of Irish men.

The process will be followed with a radio documentary (or podcast/s) hosted by local drama facilitator, Cathal Thornton of Tailtiu Theatre Company, with direction and production support from the Dept. of Creative Media at DkIT. A parallel research project will also be undertaken by Suzanne Smith, of NetwellCASALA, to evidence the impact and potential for the CAR@H model to enhance connection capabilities for older  men and to engage intergenerational and intercultural communities digitally under the banner of inclusion, participation and re-connection through creativity.
