'It’s about Time!' is a learning project for all ages on the maths, science and artistry associated with time and time-keeping.
Fittingly, the Irish Museum of Time – one of the Waterford Treasures Museums in the Viking Triangle – is mounting the 2nd International Festival of Time (inaugurated in 2022) on 21st-24th September 2023. It is Waterford Treasures’ aim to deepen local knowledge of the science and practise of time and time-keeping, making Waterford – Ireland’s oldest city – a hub of both conceptual and practical knowledge of horology.
With this learning project Waterford Treasures will commission Calmast to produce learning resources, workshops and activities for young and young-at-heart which will take creative inspiration from the timepieces in our Irish Museum of Time but also be rooted in science and maths and ensure some learning of key concepts underpinning horology. Another important aim is to deepen understanding and knowledge of horology and timekeeping of Waterford Treasures staff and volunteers.
