The aim of this project is to record the experiences of several well known County Monaghan Footballers who went on to become successful team managers and record their experiences and the impact these experiences had on their lives. It also aims to give an insight into the ups and downs they experienced during their careers particularly as managers.
The project is being undertaken by Caisleán Theatre Co. and will involve video interviews with a view to developing a play based on their experiences. The interviewees & their families and other guests will be brought together for a special evening at which an edited version of the interviews will be shown. From these interviews and other research a play will be developed, scripted and produced. The play will then travel around County Monaghan and beyond, performing in community and sports halls thereby bringing relevant, interesting and entertaining theatre out to the community. This will bring connectivity between communities and the Arts.
The production that will be devised, will also create the opportunity, for members of the community in which it will be performed, to play a number of cameo roles which would involve minimum rehearsal but would give a sense of community engagement with the production, in an entertaining and meaningful way. As a well as that, it would encourage greater attendances at the production thereby exposing a a wider audience to the Arts and creating a real sense of Arts in the community.
