In 2021, Stephen Callaghan began documenting memorials at Kilcomin, near Shinrone, using high quality and often night-time photography to record and then to transcribe them. This is part of a wider project being undertaken by the Kilcomin Graveyard group who had commissioned a report on the conservation of the church and burial grounds' walls.

In November 2022, as part of the Offaly Heritage Seminar, Stephen showed two groups around the graveyard and pointed out memorials of note for their historical and or artistic merit.

This project involves the culmination of this work with the publishing of it, which will be launched early in the new year.
