Kildare Library Service with support from Creative Ireland, are delighted to announce our inaugural Reader in Residence, Emma-Jane Leeson.

Emma-Jane is a children’s writer based in County Kildare and author of the popular Johnny Magory series. Reading and literacy are at the heart of the public library service in Kildare and the public library strategy, Our Public Libraries 2022 – Inspiring, Connecting and Empowering Communities. Kildare Library Service is committed to developing the role of the library as a centre for culture and learning, with programmes and projects that meet individual and community needs.

The Reader- in -Residence will deliver a programme of activities designed to promote literacy, storytelling and foster a habit and enjoyment of reading and library usage in children aged 5-12 and their families at our 8 part-time libraries throughout Kildare in 2022.

Emma will host storytelling in Kilcullen Library on May 17th, 24th, & 31st June 7th, 14th & 21st
