Killarney Streetscapes

Killarney Streetscapes 2026 is a youth‑led public art project that gives young people the opportunity to creatively transform public spaces in Killarney town. Building on the success of earlier Streetscapes projects, it focuses on inclusive participation, particularly supporting young people who face barriers to engagement, including those living in Direct Provision and Temporary Protection accommodation.

The project is delivered in partnership with Architecture Kerry, and the Kerry Local Creative Youth Partnership (LCYP) at Kerry ETB. Professional artists will lead a series of workshops, guiding young participants through the full creative process, from developing ideas and designs to making and installing the artwork.

Working together, participants will create bright, high‑quality murals inspired by Killarney’s landscape, architecture, and local identity. These artworks will be installed on new walls in the town centre, helping to enhance the area’s visual character.

The project will conclude with a free public launch event featuring live performances by young performers and the unveiling of the murals. An online Streetscapes walking trail will also be created, allowing people to explore the artworks digitally. Killarney Streetscapes 2026 celebrates youth creativity, encourages connection to place, and contributes to a more welcoming and vibrant public space.
