Knitted Together 2022 is the 3rd year of this successful project with a focus on older generations in Kilkenny county and beyond.

Participants are provided with free kits and are invited to knit and crochet squares resulting in the creation of blankets and other textile pieces. These will be distributed to charities and homes for the elderly across the county.

This year's project includes a key intergenerational aspect, partnering with Kilkenny Education Centre providing training for teachers to pass on skills to children. Other key elements include collaboration with Men's Sheds; Maker Meet Up workshops for individuals to come together to create at hubs and workplaces around the county; 'Buddying' system where people organize their own 'get togethers' to create with family and friends.

The activity of making is the constant in this project, from which many positive factors will emerge, i.e. supporting positive ageing by creating social connections, skill exchanges, positive reinforcements and friendships, mitigating the negative impact of social isolation and loneliness.
