La Trinidad Valencera Exhibition Launch

Official Launch weekend to celebrate the arrival of a new exhibition of artifacts retrieved from the Spanish Armada vessel that sank off the coast of Donegal, in Kinnagoe Bay in 1588. The artifacts, including plates, jars, utensils and part of a musket, shoe and a leather bag were recovered by local divers in the 1970’s and have now returned, once again to the shores of Inishowen, on loan from the National Museums Northern Ireland.

To mark the arrival of this historically significant exhibition there will be an Opening Event on Friday 17th June at the museum, with guest speakers, local music, food and refreshments.

On Saturday 18th June, local heritage group the Lands of Eogain, will facilitate a field trip to the site of the wreck at Kinnagoe Bay, where there will be presentations made to commemorate the sub-aqua divers involved in the discovery and retrieval of the artifacts now on display at the museum.

And to close the weekends celebrations, on Sunday 19th June there will be a guided biodiversity walk at Kinnagoe Bay, hosted by the Inishowen Rivers Trust group, with buses leaving from the Inishowen Maritime Museum.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
