Life Around the Rath

This is a community project with TY students from Ard Scoil Rathangan working together with members of the local community to create textile art pieces and a short video, reflecting on life through their time in the village of Rathangan. This project follows on from a previous project undertaken last year, with the 2020 TY students working with local volunteers to create a large textile wall hanging. During this project, the students will be guided by local textile artist Aideen Cross.

During the course of this project students will explore the town with local historian Larry Fullam, where they will gain knowledge of local history and identify places of interest in the area. Depending on Covid-19 restrictions, they hope to then invite members of the communities into the school for a 'stories and stitching' session with the students. With permission, they will take recordings and develop a short video, along with images of their textile work. This textile work will involve embroidery, weaving and quilting, which will be added to the original wall hanging.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
