The North Mayo Youth Light it Up Project will create a fantastic digital display production in 2023.

In December, a series of artworks by young people will be projected onto prominent building facades in Ballina. By transforming the art for digital projection and sharing it outdoors, Light it Up will let the whole community see and enjoy the creativity of the young people in their community. 

The artwork will be created through a series of workshops facilitated by artist Alice Dixon. The workshops will take place during the Autumn months in local community centers and schools, as well as through partnerships with other art programs such as the Garda Síochána Art Competition.

Light it Up is an incredible testament to the creativity of youth in North Mayo, and the people who make it possible.

The team behind the project thought outside the traditional gallery format, saw unique opportunities for collaboration, and harnessed resources to expand the tools young people in North Mayo could use for creating art.

There is so much potential in the field of digital art as new technology emerges, and the North Mayo Youth project is leading the way, giving young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to combine traditional and new methods with Light it Up!
