COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)  is a chronic, incurable respiratory condition that affects over 400,000 Irish people. It has immense personal, societal and socioeconomic repercussions and management has been cited as a HSE and Governmental priority.

Singing has been identified as an amazing way of treating some of the physical and psychological issues associated with COPD, as good vocal tech addresses many of the breathing abnormalities and as a community based intervention it has a hugely positive impact of problems of social isolation, anxiety and loneliness that frequently afflicts people with COPD.
