Dates

to 5th Nov 2020

Age Range

Limerick Printmakers (LP) ‘Thinking Inside the Square’ celebrates the economic and creative productivity of Johns Square. LP pairs artists with residents, businesses, and creative spaces within the square to produce original artworks inspired by stories and experiences. The artworks will be proudly exhibited in the square, encouraging those who pass through to take a fresh view of this striking Georgian square.

The square is a place of both economic & creative productivity and this project aims to cultivate and showcase this by producing this project entirely within the square- from inception, whereby four LP studio members will be matched with different collaborators from a range of small local businesses and other creative organisations; to process, creating work in LP’ studio based on the collaborative stories and insights with continued input from participants; and crucially through to publicly exhibiting the resultant original artworks in four alcoves located on the external second floor walls of several building on both sides of the square.

This proposal seeks to increase communication and awareness between the different inhabitants of Johns Square particularly as it strives to remain resilient during COVID 19, while also encouraging people who view the square as a place in which to pass through swiftly to slow down, look up and take in the artwork and architecture that exists around them.
