Lisduggan Library Mural
Browns Road Library is situated on Paddy Browns Road in Lisduggan in Waterford. It is at the heart of the community with regular members dropping by on a weekly basis. During the pandemic the library had to close for over a year and it was much missed in the area.
To celebrate its re-opening, Waterford Walls have been asked to create a wraparound mural on the building for inclusion in the Waterford Walls Festival 2022. This will really highlight the presence of the library in the Lisduggan area and provide the locality with a creative visual space, improving both the building itself and the surrounding area. The main road through Lisduggan is frequently used and as such would be a great location for the display of art.
Brown's Road Library staff hope to generate a buzz around the mural by inviting local groups and schools to participate in various competitions and events in the lead up to the painting. They want the community to feel that this is their library and have a sense of ownership around it.
Waterford Walls is an International Street Art Festival based in Waterford, Ireland. Now in its 8th year, the Festival returns 12th - 21st August 2022. The progress and finished artwork on the Browns Road Library will be featured on the Waterford Walls website and social media platforms during the festival in August.
