Little Red Kettle Interactive Tour Development
Little Red Kettles annual interactive touring play (ITP) is the cornerstone of the companies artistic calendar. Evolving as a project over 30 years, it tours for up to 3 months annually and in 2022 will have been seen by 11,213 children.
The project is led by Liam Meagher who works with 4 experienced performers to rehearse a script that works as an interactive piece of theatre for primary school children. During a performance children are invited to participate in the play - wear costumes, say lines and they become the story. For many children this will be their first time seeing a live theatre performance, for the majority it means fun and the chance to flex their artistic muscles in a fun and supportive space.
The ITP is the only one of its kind in the country and is a model of best practice.
Liam has been central to the project and in 2023 we are committed to supporting his work fully, giving space to workshop his ideas with other artists as part of the process, culminating in a sharing of the new piece of work with an audience of children and artists before the piece goes into rehearsals.
