Local Voices dlr Poetry Competition
dlr Arts Office hosted a poetry competition during the lockdown.
There were 4 categories:
Children (judged by Lucinda Jacob)
Young People (judged by Jessica Traynor)
Adult (judged by Katie Donovan)
Haiku (judged by Paul Perry)
The judges created videos with tips for writing poetry which are available on our website and social media.
The project was twofold in that it created work for the judges who are all professional poets in the locality while also encouraging the public to get involved in creative writing during this difficult time.
We received nearly 200 entries and the standard was excellent.
The winners received a monetary prize and were published in a booklet alongside some commissioned work from the judges. This also created work for the graphic designer.
Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
