Lost Landmarks II: Creativity in Older People
This project connects older people through story and landscape using the oral tradition, creative writing, and the visual to re-create the lost landmarks from individual and collective memory.
The project builds on previous collaboration with the Older People’s Council working with writer Anthony J Quinn and Cavan County Council’s Social Inclusion Unit and Arts Office. The Older People’s Council produced a treasured collection of memories in their anthology entitled Lost Landmarks, written by members, edited by Anthony J Quinn, published in 2020
In this project, local writers and visual artists are connecting with older people to develop a series of stories and artwork around the concept of memory and placemaking. Cavan Arts Office is planning to showcase this work in Cavan Libraries in early 2022.
The partners in this project are the Older People’s Council, Cavan County Council Social Inclusion Office, Cavan Library, Arts Office, the cultural partners on the Creative Ireland Team and, artists from the Rianta Arts Group.
