Lyrical Rain offers a fun, festival feeling for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann when it visits Wexford Town this August. Using biodegradable, water-resistant ‘invisible’ paint, words from popular traditional Irish songs will be sprayed onto the pavements of Wexford, and appear under people’s feet whenever it rains.

Through a suggestion box located in Wexford Library, the local community will be asked to propose songs that the lyrics can be taken from. Then, a team from Wexford Library and WBC, working with local musicians including Craobh Loch Garman and the Wexford branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will make the final selection. During the Fleadh, different musicians from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will give impromptu performances on the sites where the paint is sprayed. 

Lyrical Rain will be a creative and colourful way to promote Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and further cultural tourism in Wexford.
