The Participation project is designed to introduce community groups in Galway City to working with a national arts organisation, encourage creative engagement in outdoor spectacle and to deepen experience of producing large scale work.
The aim of Macnas’ participation project is:
With Creative Ireland’s support, Macnas will trial a new way of engaging communities, with the addition of a dedicated Participation Coordinator to identify, recruit and engage a diverse range of communities. An important aspect to this, is the documentation and evaluation of community participation—this will be crucial in informing future strategy as Macnas works to build a more diverse creative community. Through the Coordinator, Macnas will work with 10 different community organisations to recruit over 350 people to become involved in the realisation of our 2023 programme. There will be opportunities to participate across our Autumn/Winter 2023 presentations Crom the Giant Visiting Athenry and Cnámha La Loba.
- To provide access to creative engagement to over 350 participants from 10 different community groups.
- To promote individual, community and national wellbeing though engaging in creativity.
- Build a more diverse Macnas Community.
