In December 2018 Rua Red commissioned six of the foremost Irish female artists Alice Maher, Jesse Jones, Amanda Coogan, Rachel Fallon, Grace Dyas and Oona Doherty to research and develop new work that responds and explores the figure of Mary Magdalene. The result of this research will culminate in a new series of exhibitions, interventions, performances and talks taking place throughout 2020/2021 at Rua Red. This is the first time that these six leading Irish female artists have worked together and the first time that a series of new works have been commissioned around the figure of Mary Magdalene in Ireland.

Throughout 2019 the artists and curator have created an evolving process where they meet, research and discuss ideas collectively. The process has been documented and a library of relevant source material and publications collected. The project is now moving into its production stage.
