Midlands Still Voices Festival
The Still Voices Film Festival aims to deliver new, exciting, and world-class cinema for the local community and wider Midlands region. Through their core programme, the Short Film Competition, they showcase a variety of films, including fiction, non-fiction, animation, student, Irish language and experimental.
Throughout the weekend of the festival, over 100 short films are screened, and each year has seen the quality of submission increase significantly. The aim is to ensure that the work of aspiring filmmakers is given as much exposure as possible, with that in mind the entire short film programme is free to view throughout the weekend.
In an effort to support local artists, Still Voices will be organising a Summer Series of events to promote the work of artists across Longford, Westmeath and Roscommon. These talks will be hosted in-person with a socially distant audience but key to these events is that they will be recorded and uploaded online through our social media channels and the respective councils. The Roscommon event will see Roisín Geraghty sit down to discuss her extensive career in festival programming and film producing.
As part of the Creative Ireland value in Roscommon, the development of the film sector in the county and in the region is being resourced, encouraged and supported.
